Message of Christ’s coming to the world

It’s this time of the year where we ponder again on the coming of the Lord Jesus in the body of a human baby into this world.

In Philippians 2:5-7, we read (LEB translation): “Think this in yourselves which was also in Christ Jesus, who, existing in the form of God, did not consider being equal with God something to be grasped, but emptied himself by taking the form of a slave, by becoming in the likeness of people. And being found in appearance like a man …”

We should follow the example of Jesus Christ in that we also need to live in such humility, the apostle Paul tells us here. This is our first message today regarding the birth of Jesus right here in the Book of Philippians.

But I have another message for us surrounding the birth of Christ, this time from the Book of Revelation:

Revelation 12:4-5: “And the dragon stood before the woman who was about to give birth, in order that whenever she gave birth to her child, he could devour it. And she gave birth to a son, a male child, who is going to shepherd all the nations with an iron rod, and her child was snatched away to God and to his throne. (LEB).

The woman here is a symbol of God’s people. We are comforted by seeing the fulfilment of the Messianic prophecy by David in Psalm 2:7-9: “I will tell the decree; Yahweh said to me: ‘You are my son; today I have begotten you. Ask from me and I will make the nations your heritage, and our possession the ends of the earth. You will break them with an iron rod. Like a potter’s vessel you will shatter them.’”

This child has become the King of God’s Kingdom over all the nations. But this birth narrative of Jesus, involves us as believers and followers of Christ too. It describes the onslaught of the spiritual enemy against our lives:

Revelation 12:17: “And the dragon was angry at the woman, and went away to [fight against] the rest of her children, those who keep the commandments of God and who hold to the testimony about Jesus.” (LEB)

As comfort for us in this spiritual battle, we see how God is taking His children into the wilderness, where He feeds and protects them, away from the Dragon (Remember the history of God taking Israel out of Egypt through the desert to the Promised Land).

I conclude with this message from Revelation 12:11: “And they conquered him by the blood of the Lamb and by the word of their testimony, and they did not love their lives until death”. (LEB)

We can and should be victorious in this battle, because of the birth and live of Jesus in a human body:
1) Everyone of us need to have the personal testimony that the blood of the Lamb, Jesus, has washed and is washing our sins away, and
2) We are dedicated to Christ and the live that we live in Him – nothing is more important than this!

May we all have a great time of remembering the coming of Jesus into this world and may we live in humility, with testimony and dedication to our Lord!

Please receive God’s blessing in your life! May you also have a fruitful and prosperous new year!
